cooking

cooking was the thing that i hated most before. now, with nothing to do afte school, cooking seems to be the most interesting thing for me. it ranges from buying cooking materials, along with some snacks especially choclolates, to arranging dishes. it is fun and kills time anyway. all the comparing and picking and trying new tastes of cookies and biscuits are really great.

My last...

Last Sunday, I and my host mother went for a drive to Healsville Sanctuary. It took 1 hour and 1/2, and we didn't catch in the traffic jam fortunately.In sanctuary,we saw many Australian wild animals and babies whose parents always were killed by car.After that we took lunch and went to Gembrook just to see Puffing Billy, because it took 2 hours to go to Belgrave and wind was cold.
Then, I sent my huge package to Japan yesterday and started packing my stuffs. It made me to realize my return...

I think this is my final event in Australia, and I'm going to go back to Japan this Saturday morning. I' d like to say "Thank you very much for your kindness" to all people who I've met in Australia. Thank you, everybody!

Today is our last time!!
I'm so sad, I really this class.

My parents are coming down here in jenuary!!
they are really looking forward to seeing my host mother and around here Caulfield.
they are staying in a hotel in the city so I might join them too! haha
but I wanna show as much of Melbourne as I can.
where should I take them while they are here? do you have any good advice??

they said they would like to go to the great ocean road and also the zoo. and we are planning to have dinner at Port Melbourne. Ive never been there.
I hope they will enjoy their stay.
but the weather here is SO different from now in Japan so hope they wont get sick or anything...

the last 5 weeks

I am going to finish the English Course of Monash University on Friday! I have always hoped the English Course finished so that I would be free as soon as possible!

Actually, I just couldn't catch up with the students on Academic Class, so I tried to escape that course. But, I found that my academic skills have been improved and more vocabularies I knew than before !

Sometimes I attempted to run away to avoid the Academic Class, anyway, I am not willing to waste the tuition fees.Spent all day to accomplish a essay -- What an exhausting day! There was a experience that I was doing a academic homework until 3 p.m. Still, nothing satisfied for me. I had no idea to finish it.

Now, this class will be stopped, nevertheless, I am worried about my academic skill too poor to fail after study life.

★only $2 roller coaster☆

On last Saturday, my friends and I had a BBQ at the park around Caulfield. Weather was good, food was great. After we finsihed eating, we went to the hill in the park and then discovered a brilliant thing that we could make into a roller coaster using the hill! It was a shopping cart we borrowed from coles for 2 dollers. What we did was that two of my friends(2 passengers) got in the cart, and one pushed them to up to the hill, and pushed them a down slope!! I was too afraid to do, but it looked qutie a thrill for me but so much fun! We burst into a laughter! Ive never seen this reasonable attraction before! Do you want to try?

Rayner Hoff - Faun and Nymph

Rayner Hoff, drew close parallels between ancient greece and contemporary Australia and produces sculptures that celebrated the vitality and potencial of the human body. He is one of the most pagan and overtly sexual of all the artist's sculptures.

In Roman mythology, fauns are place-spirits (genni) of untamed woodland. Romans connected their fauns with the Greek satyrs, wild and orgiastic drunken followers of Bacchus (Greek Dionysus). However, fauns and satyrs were originally quite different creatures. Both have horns and both resemble goats below the waist, humans above; but originally satyrs had human feet, fauns goatlike hooves. The Romans also had a god named Faunus and goddess Bona Dea, who, like the fauns, were goat-people.

In Greek mythology, a nymph is any member of a large class of female entities in human form, that is either bound to a particular location, or landform, or is part of the retinue of a god, such as Dionysus, Hermes, or Pan, or a goddess, generally Artemis. Nymphs were the frequent target of satyrs.

'Yalla-y-Poora homestead 1864'

Hi I'm Gerrard!! I chose this masterpiece called 'Yalla-y-Poora homestead 1864' painted by Eugene Von Guerard. The painter was born in Australia in 1811 ,and lived in Australia 1852–82 and died in England in 1911. The reason why i chose this picture is simple because i like landscape paintings.

In my opinion, the river or oasis which is in the center of the picture looks like the lifespring which God has given to human beings. Also sky looks so high and romantic.

This painting was done by Aby Altson on 1896 and its name was "Meditation". It was oil on canvas.

I personally like the portrait, coz the artist can catch the character and describe it by painting, and it presents remarkably true to life. As you see the lady, she is standing in fornt of the fireplace in the living room and she is thinking about something. Also, everything in the painting is as vivid as life. So I think the oil painting looks natural!

Coast scene @ Federation Square

This is 'Coast scene, St kilda', by Thomas Clark. He drew the coast scene in St Kilda about 150 years ago. As you can see it 's quite different from current aspect. There are cafes , reataurants and many buildings along the beach, the road is everytime busy, then we cannot find scene of this pic anymore. Which do you prefer scene of this pic or current one?

I chose this sculpture because her fingers look seem alive!

Moreover her shape's so nice! I wanna be like her!

Bertram Mackennal (1863-1931) executed this sculpture, he executed many sculpture and also public monuments.

it was really interesting.. it must be really old but all the dresses looked kind of funny..

I guess no body would wear that even for that particular period of time! didnt look so fashionable!

and the catwalk was shown on the TV and all the models were moving a lot a lot!

I have never seen models dancing or going crazy on the catwalk! haha

Russell DRYSDALE - Moody's pub

I chose the picture, because I like its mixture of colours. There are two different areas in the pictures, divided by an invisible diagonal line. The left upper area consists of blue and grey tones, the other of orange tones. The contrast between the cold and the warm range produces an interesting mood. The people in the central of the picture have apparently left the pub (market). It seems that they are waiting to get on the car untill the artist has painted his picture. I guess, you can conclude from their posture that the pictured people are quiet young.

Inge King - Black Sun

This is a sculpture made by Inge King. The NGV has a smaller version of this piece and I could not find an image of it on the NGV website - so I tried an advanced image search on Google and got lucky. I love this piece; I like that you can see rays of sunlight coming through it at different angles on a sunny day.

JOHN BRACK

Hi, even though this is one of John Brack's great paintings, it's not actually what I choose at the museum. What I choose was painted by John Brack, based on a concept of John Brack's famous Collins st. 5.p.m series. There are two women in the painting on their transport to home in the evening. At the time, women had less power than men in a great coat, yet those women got an attitude of how they wanted to be as they wore a nice fancy hat just like Audrey Hepburn. Since it's done by simple color such as brown,black,yellow,khaki,and flesh color, it has got an image of elegance and elegance and classic!All lines are not curvy but have a sharp angle, though, that is one of the attractions of John Brack's painting, I think.

Louis BUVELOT @NGV in Federation Square

This painting names "Waterpool near Coleraine(sunset)" painted by Louis Buvelot. When I see this, I said, "Amazing!" to myself. It's really common scenary in Australian countryside. Maybe there are a farm, and two big trees and a pond in this place. The light of sunset is just beautiful and it's peaceful time...but I felt nostalgia for this painting. Also, the gradations from bright orange to dim light of the night are realistic colour. It was like a photography!
This is not showy painting, but this is one of my favourite paintings at NGV.

SUMMER SEA

The picture below is come from the website of the National Gallery of Victoria, Frederick McCUBBIN,named summer sea.

There is a barefooted girl who is sitting on the beach and looking the distant place. she looks like unhappy and worried, perhaps she is waiting someone back home. There is not a strong sunshine although in Summer.

The girl wear a long green skirt and a red kerchief with white spots .
Quite a few of grass around the beach, but they seem very drought due to the lack of water in summer, likes hay ! The whole atmosophere is not feel comfortable in spite of I think it is a fine day with a clear sky!

In summer , people should have liked to enjoy the beach - take a sunbath and swim. But that picture let me feel lonely and that situation is not good in the girl's life!!

John Brack @ NGV

Yay... It worked! I had a bit of trouble uploading this image.

This is a painting by John Bracks and I think it is really wonderful. It is called "Collins st 5p.m." and it was painted in Melbourne in the late 1950s. It shows the 5p.m. rush home after work. I think the colours are very moving and the atmosphere in the painting is very engaging. John Brack had this to say about his work, "There are so many of us whose lives are encompassed by offices in the day and suburbs in the night, that it seems almost urgent for the painter to say something about it."

hello! did you know that we only have 2 and a half more weeks till the summer off? i am going to travel east coast of australia with my friends...aww I cant wait! first we are going up to Cairns then Great Barrer leaf, Brisbene, Gold coast and then at last Sydney! we will be in sydney for the new years day and I am soo excited! where are you going to go?? wherever you go I hope you will have a great time! take care!!

X'mas is coming..

I can't believe that Christmas is coming in 2 weeks already! Because of this totally opposite weather in Australia whereas we have very cold winter in Japan, I still cant get used to see all christmas stuff in shopping center. But I'm really looking forward to experience a hot summer x'mas here! I'm going to be in Cairns when it's X'mas by the way!!

I moved to new hostfamily last Sunday.
When I arrived at house, i was soooooooooo dissapointed.............
Because there is a old & messy house infront of my house , i thought my new house was that one.!!!lol

Actually, my new house is big and soooo beautiful!!!:-D
I have a lovely room and in my room there is my own TV!! I also have my own bathroom & toilet!!!! What a wonderful house it is!!!!!!!!!!

Moreover, the host mother who is almost 60 years old is very kind !!!!
She makes some breakfast and lunch with snacks for me!!!!!

I really enjoy my new Homestay~~~~

Last Night

I am so lazy recently,,, I mean I dont study hard and often feel sleepy... Especialy after dinner, I have nothing to do, then just fall asleep....Its too bad! I just waste my time!!
I was sleepy last night, then some one suddenly knocked my room door around 8:00.
one of my housemates was standing in front of my room.
He came in order to talk with me!
He knows that Im going back to Jpn soon, then he made an opportunity to talk each other.
We talked about many topics. He is from Uganda, and he told me foods, environment, and many good things in his country.
It was very attractive to me! Its a nice country!
I had a great time last night***

a problem from my roommate

last weekend, I was a busy-man. I decided to move out and now I am looking for another unit nearby Clayton Campus . it was lucky day at last sunday , there was a chinese girl who wanna move in my bedroom on 15th Jan, thus I can rent the cheaper one by myself at clayton and live with a good friend.

but, now my room-mate -- she have earned her own living since ever she stayed at Melbourne. last month, She have changed another campus of her college so that should be moving out . My landlord disagreed her move out ahead of time and would have not refunded the deposit if she move out without authorization. it means the total deposit $600 will be thrown into water.

the bond is $600, it is a great number for a oversea independent student at Melbourne. I am going to look for a tenant for her as possible as i can!

From one of my daily thinking...

Melbourne's weather is unusual for me, because we had heavy rain yesterday but today is a beautiful day!
Did you watch the news program last night? In the city it was flooded above the floor and people tried to take muddy water out from indoors.

Anyway, now, I have less than 20 days until I have to go back to Japan, so that I try to buy good souvenirs for my family, relatives and friends. What kind of things do you think suitable as souvenir for them? I have already bought soft toys, cookies and different flavour of Tim Tams.

It is about 15 kilometres out of Melbourne, easy to get there and only if you wish it a guide can take you around the proprety and share with you the incommon and delightful Reeds' story who gave birth to Heidi before the 50s.

Exquisite collaboration

Hello everyone!
Last sunday, I went to the beach with my friends. We went there for swimming. It's unbelievable to go to the beach on December in my country. If you do, you will be frozen. So, it was quite odd for me.
The water temperature was quite cold, but the weather was brilliant. Blue sky, Blue ocean!!! The view was also marvelous. It was very nice. We swam, dove from the pier, played beach-flag and so on. We had a very good day. But, unfortunately, I still have a muscular pain and a pain from sunburn. They are very good, exquisite collaboration. I'm regreting if I did more excersise and use some sunscreens.
